14Mar NEWSIMR&D – Simulation for Smart Factory by Prof. Dr. Aleksandar Rikalovic R&D Management of new security risks-research and simulation development (NEWSIMR&D) is a Science fund of the Republic of Serbia-supported project. Through cutting-edge research and practical go-to-market applications, the project aims to address important social and industrial risks by bringing together public academic institutions and private enterprises. The NEWSIMR&D project encourages an interdisciplinary approach and cooperation between academics with different backgrounds, including social sciences, humanities, engineering, and technological sciences. The academic institutions managing the project”s execution are the Faculty of Security Studies (University of Belgrade), the Faculty of Engineering (University of Kragujevac), The Institute for Artificial Intelligence R&D of Serbia, the University of Criminal Investigation and Police Studies, and the Strategic Research Institute of the University of Defense. The establishment of the National Simulation Center (NSC), which would be physically located at the Faculty of Security Studies at the University of Belgrade, is one of the most significant contributions that will be made by the NEWSIMR&D project. The NSC is intended to be a location where modern security and risk professionals can enhance their applied and practical knowledge and skills. The demand for security professionals in Serbia is growing substantially. The state security sector, as well as the newly established private security sector and international businesses, require professionals with a new set of skills, with an emphasis on advanced simulation modeling, cyber security, artificial intelligence, and internet of things technologies. The Project could have a substantial effect on the future of professional education and management in Serbia’s security sector. Additionally, it would affect social awareness of new security risks as well as the strategies, procedures, and models for preventing and responding to those risks. The NEWSIMR&D project plans to address several large-scale risks that can have asignificant impact on the national level, including disruptive social risks, risks to the energy security, risks concerning the operations of large oil and gas producers, logistics and supply chain risks, cyber security, disaster mitigation, and crisis management. The NSC facility, which just opened, has acquired different simulation and VR software and hardware tools such as AnyLogic (general-purpose simulation software), XVR Sim (VR simulation software), ADAMS 5 (environmental simulation software), along with other simulation tools and VR hardware. In the future, the NEWSIMR&D team intends to collaborate closely with the Smart Factory team on the execution of various initiatives relevant to the project’s objectives. anylogicIndustry 5.0NEWSIMR&DsimulationSmart Factory
